Microdermabrasion consists in sweeping the surface of the skin with a flux of chemically inert micro-crystals to provoke progressive “scouring”.
The depth of the abrasion conducted depends:
The close monitoring of the depth of abrasion provides a high degree of operating safety and satisfactory comfort for the patient.
Since it is not painful microdermabrasion does not require any anaesthetic.
The number of sessions varies according to the indication and depth of the abrasion.
Superficial epidermal abrasion, indicated for rejuvenating the face, only involves mild erythema, which disappears in a few hours. A deeper epidermal abrasion, with haemorrhagic spots, will result in flaky skin, which disappears within a few days.
To avoid hyperpigmentation exposure to sunlight must be avoided the first few weeks following treatment, and the skin must be prepared.
