Radiesse: Wrinkle-filling injections

Radiesse® injection

There are various solutions for reshaping, correcting and beautifying the face without surgery.

Radiesse® injections are one such solution. Clinique du Lac tells you all you need to know about this non-surgical, virtually painless procedure, which erases wrinkles, lifts the skin and redefines facial contours.

350 per syringe.

Duration: approximately 30 minutes per session.

What is Radiesse®?

Radiesse® is an injectable implant that fills in furrows and wrinkles, and gives an overall reshaping of facial contours. It is an aqueous solution based on calcium hydroxylapatite, a substance naturally present in the body. Injected with a syringe at very precise points on the face or hands, Radiesse® stimulates collagen and elastin, two proteins essential to skin quality.

Radiesse® also acts on fibroblasts, the cognitive tissue cells present in the skin's deepest layer: the dermis. Radiesse® stimulates these cells, which are responsible for the coherence and suppleness of the dermis, giving the skin a firmer, lifted appearance.

Radiesse® injection: practical information

Radiesse®

Radiesse® is harmless to the body, as it is completely resorbable and biodegradable. Eventually, it is completely eliminated by the body. This is also why its effects are temporary. However, the visible effects of an injection of Radiesse® last between one and two years.

Good to know: while Radiesse® is mainly used to correct facial imperfections, particularly wrinkles, it can also be used to rejuvenate the backs of the hands and restore their firmness.

Radiesse® injection: objectives and principles

This aesthetic medicine procedure can be applied to many areas of the face, including the nose, cheekbones, cheeks, nasolabial folds, bitterness folds, oval of the face and chin. In these targeted areas, Radiesse® injections act to fill in wrinkles or attenuate certain defects (hollows, bumps, irregularities, etc.).

Radiesse® injections on the face allow :

  • Filling in wrinkles, such as those present on bitterness folds, the corners of the mouth, crow's feet, frown lines, nasolabial folds...
  • counteract sagging skin by restoring volume to cheekbones and jowls
  • Resolve jaw symmetry problems
  • Correct a hollow chin or restore volume to a receding chin
  • Correct bumps or irregularities on the nose
  • Reduce dark circles

Radiesse® injection: the procedure

Before each injection session, Clinique du Lac surgeons take the time to listen to you. Radiesse® injections in the cheekbones, the nose, injections in the nasolabial folds... Whatever the area to be treated, our surgeons will implement the right protocol to correct the disfigurements you wish to see disappear. Once they've examined you and made their diagnosis, they'll be able to determine precisely where and how many injections are needed to achieve the best results.

Radiesse® injections are a relatively short procedure: around 30 minutes. Radiesse® injections are also virtually painless. For this reason, the injection session can be performed without anesthesia. However, a lidocaine-based local anesthetic may be used by Clinique du Lac surgeons to make the session more comfortable for the patient.

Injections may cause some side effects, such as redness or swelling in the treated areas, but these last no more than 24 hours.

Finally, it's also important to bear in mind that the treatment, as with any filler treatment, may require a few touch-ups over time to achieve the desired correction.
