What are tensor threads for the face?
The use of tensor threads is a genuine alternative to surgery and facelifts. The advantages are numerous: this surgical procedure is fast, non-invasive, non-traumatic and scar-free. Patients appreciate the visible, natural appearance of the result: facial contours are redefined and wrinkles diminished. The face regains its volume and the skin its lost tone. As the threads are absorbable, the effects last from 18 to 24 months.
Anti-ageing tensor threads: practical information
The aesthetic physician will use Silhouette Lift® threads. These are polypropylene threads with cones, not notched, which are perfectly tolerated by the human body. These materials have been used for many years in cardiology and ophthalmology. Silhouette Lift® sutures are CE-certified and FDA-approved (USA).

Tensor threads: objectives and principles
The use of Silhouette Lift® threads is required to counteract the sagging of facial tissues that occurs when skin elasticity and tone are impaired. This ptosis can be caused by age, excessive sun exposure, heredity or smoking.
Although surgical, this procedure is less invasive than a facelift. The technique consists of inserting 3 to 4 pairs of threads fitted with tiny absorbable cones on either side, through a 1 cm incision in the scalp. These threads pass under the facial skin, anchoring themselves in the deep tissues and reshaping the oval of the face.
The fibrosis around the wires produces a much stronger suspension mechanism than with traditional methods.
During your consultation with your Clinique du Lac practitioner, you can explain your wishes and motivations. After a medical examination, he or she will recommend the most suitable procedure. If facial tightening threads are chosen, he or she will determine how many threads need to be inserted and explain all the details of the procedure.
No specific preparation is required, apart from an appointment with the anaesthetist two weeks before the procedure.
A simple outpatient stay is required. You return home the same evening. The procedure is performed in a sterile operating room with local anesthesia.
The procedure takes around 45 minutes in the operating room. The surgeon will insert the tensioning threads into the subcutaneous tissue using a fine needle. The cones will hold them in place. Once all the threads have been inserted, the tissues are lightly compressed to reshape them as desired.
After the operation, it' s best to allow a couple of days for the procedure to be completed. There may be some slight swelling, redness or bruising, which will quickly disappear.
Your practitioner will give you the necessary post-treatment advice: apply ice or cold in the minutes following treatment, take painkillers if necessary... He will also explain how to clean and dry the skin extremely gently for a few days.
Final recommendations: avoid the sun, sports, massages and beauty treatments for at least 20 days.
