Arm plastic surgery: Arm lift

Whether due to age or excess weight, gravity has a relentless effect on certain parts of the body. Do your arms feel flabby or crumpled? Do you feel you have "bat-like" arms? Do you dream of sculpted arms? Aesthetic arm surgery, in particular an arm lift, can help you regain your desired appearance and self-confidence.

What is arm surgery?

Despite a balanced diet and targeted physical exercise, some people find that the skin on their arms becomes slack. This is known as skin ptosis. In most cases, this is the consequence of aging or weight loss (obesity or pregnancy). Interestingly, hereditary factors are also often involved. Arm plastic surgery aims to correct the aesthetic aspect of this sagging. It is recommended in cases of severe skin sagging or adipose infiltration.

What are the main types of arm surgery?

Arm lifts, also known as "brachioplasty", are the ideal treatment for distended, wrinkled arm skin. The operation, performed under general anesthesia on an outpatient basis, lasts around 1h30. It involves removing excess skin from the inner arm and "re-draping" it.

For some patients, it is necessary to complement the arm lift with liposuction to remove excess fat.

Today, there are a number of different techniques available. The surgeon will select the most suitable according to the amount of excess skin to be removed. Contrary to popular belief, the scar is hardly noticeable. It is even imperceptible when the patient's arms are bare from the front or back. It's also important to note that it's necessary to wait several months, even a year, before being able to appreciate the final appearance of the scar.
