When to use it?

Mammary hypertrophy is an excessive volume of the breasts that is disproportionate to the patient's figure, often accompanied by breast ptosis (sagging breasts) and sometimes asymmetrically.

Physical pain (in the neck, shoulders and back) and functional discomfort (difficulties with clothing or sporting activities) are often the consequences of breast hypertrophy. Psychological problems are also regularly observed. These inconveniences are sufficiently significant for health insurance to cover surgery to reduce them, under certain conditions.

The aim of the operation is to obtain a beautiful , shapely bust, in harmony with the rest of the body, by reducing the volume of the breasts, improving their symmetry and correcting ptosis.

Excess glandular tissue is removed according to the patient's wishes. A breast volume in keeping with the patient's morphology is preserved. It is enhanced, concentrated and contoured.

Excess skin is removed to create a suitable skin envelope. The breast takes on a firmer, more sustained appearance. The scars left by the operation are due to the suturing of the incised skin edges.

In general, the scar takes the form of an inverted "T". It can be broken down as follows: a scar around the areola, at the level of the skin color demarcation; a vertical scar running from the bottom of the areola down to the fold of the breast; and an almost invisible horizontal scar (proportional to the hypertrophy and ptosis operated on) in the fold of the breast.

If breast hypertrophy and ptosis are not significant, sometimes only the vertical method is performed to avoid the horizontal scar and leave only the two scars around the areola and vertical.

A breast lift is an operation that can be performed once growth is complete, and then throughout life. It is perfectly possible to become pregnant and breastfeed, but you must wait at least six months after the operation.

This surgical procedure in no way increases the risk of developing cancer.

The pre-operative phase

The pre-operative phase

A consultation with the anaesthetist is scheduled no later than two days before the operation.

Pre-operative examinations and check-ups are carried out to ensure that there are no contraindications to the procedure. A mammogram and a breast ultrasound are also performed.

To avoid any healing problems, we recommend you stop smoking at least one month before and one month after the operation.

If you are taking oral contraception, you may be asked to stop taking it to avoid any risk, especially if you have blood circulation or clotting disorders, or are obese.

It is strictly forbidden to take any medication containing aspirin for ten days prior to the operation.

Type of anesthesia

Surgery for breast hypertrophy requires general anesthesia: the patient remains asleep throughout the operation.
